General Info

The International English Language Test (IELTS) has been recognized as a global language test for over 20 years. It is administered by the British Council and IDP Australia and can be taken at any of 160 test centers in 109 countries around the world. The purpose of the IELTS test is to evaluate candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the English language in four main areas – listening, reading, writing and speaking.
The score on the exam is graded according to a scale of 1-9, with a score of 1 representing a complete lack of knowledge of the language and a score of 9 representing knowledge of English at the mother tongue level. The IELTS is offered in multiple versions; the two primary ones are the academic IELTS – used by applicants for universities and vocational institutions, and the general IELTS – used for immigration purposes.
